This dedicated off-road, greenlaning, and expedition division of the UKSN bridges the gap between everyday off-roading and tactical self-reliance. Our mission focuses on three core pillars: Capability, Self-Reliance, and Adventure.
What is the UKSN Recon 4x4 Team All About?
The Recon 4x4 Team brings together drivers from right across the UK who share a passion for practical vehicles, self-sufficient travel, and all-terrain readiness.
You do not need an £80,000 custom expedition vehicle to take part either. From built-out Land Rover Defenders and Toyota Hiluxes to humble AWD estate cars, roof-tent setups, and daily drivers, all vehicle setups and skill levels are welcome.

Overlanding & Expeditions: From quick overnight camps to multi-day greenlaning routes across remote UK terrain.
4x4 Greenlaning & Mobility: Navigating the UK's network of Byways Open to All Traffic (BOATs) responsibly, respectfully, and with full trail awareness.
Prepping & Vehicle Readiness: Testing gear, dual-battery installations, modular packing setups, auxiliary power management, and field maintenance.
Self-Recovery & Safety: Practical techniques for winching, vehicle extraction, field repairs, and self-recovery when you are miles away from the main road.
