UKSN advises all members and the wider community to take time now to prepare, even if the storm later proves mild. Early preparation reduces risk and helps avoid unnecessary problems.

Recommended actions include:

• Charging essential batteries, power banks, and devices

• Ensuring phones, radios, and torches are fully charged

• Storing drinking water and checking food supplies

• Locating backup lighting such as torches or candles

• Securing loose outdoor items and checking property drainage

• Ensuring you have an offline way to receive updates (battery radio, downloaded resources, Project LoRa / offline comms where available)

• Monitoring official weather warnings and local guidance

Where possible, please also check in on vulnerable friends, family members, or neighbours.
