The UKSN Founders: 3D Printer Project is about building the tools to design and produce practical, field-ready gear for members - from LoRa / Meshtastic cases to custom comms accessories and identification tools. This is a foundational step in how UKSN creates and delivers future products.

What We’re Funding
We are looking to acquire a high-performance 3D printing setup to support reliable, in-house production. Our current target is a Bambu Lab P2S or X2D, paired with an AMS (Automatic Material System). This setup allows for:
 
High-quality, consistent prints suitable for real-world use
Multi-material and multi-colour capability
Faster production and efficient batch printing
The ability to scale up as demand grows
 
This equipment will enable us to produce Project LoRa cases and other core UKSN gear directly. Any profits generated from these products will be reinvested back into UKSN, supporting further development, new projects, and expanding what we can offer the community.
 
Put simply, it’s a win-win: better gear for members, and continued growth for UKSN.

What We’re Building First
To get the project moving quickly, the first focus will be on practical, high-use UKSN gear:
LoRa / Meshtastic device cases (rugged, field-ready housings)
Comms-based accessories such as antenna mounts, radio mounting solutions, and cable management parts
Custom NFC tags for identification, access, and EDC use
Small utility mounts and adapters for everyday field and equipment use

Once production is established, we’ll expand into more advanced custom designs based on member feedback and real-world testing.

As the project develops, we will actively take feedback from members to guide what gets created next.

This includes suggestions for:
New 3D printed tools and accessories
Improvements to existing designs
Practical field and comms requirements
Real-world use cases from the community
