More than 800 prison staff members at a federal facility in Victorville were notified this week that an immigrant detainee there has been diagnosed with chickenpox, according to a letter from the warden obtained by KPCC/LAist. "Measures are being taken to identify and contain inmate contacts who are at risk for getting chickenpox," the letter said.

A second wild greylag goose, found in Lurgan Park, County Armagh, has tested positive for H5N6 Avian Influenza. The second goose, like the first which was confirmed late last week, was reported to DAERA as part of its dead wild bird surveillance programme, and was submitted for testing at the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI), where initial testing has indicated avian influenza, sub-type H5N6. Streets of Duval and Jim Wells counties overflowed with water after the counties received eight and a half inches of rain Tuesday. The constant rain began Monday night and continued for several hours, causing extensive flooding. According to the Corpus Christi National Weather Service, Coastal Bend residents are in a lull of rainfall activity. An outbreak of Rift Valley Fever (RVF) in North Eastern counties has left at least 13 people dead. Hundreds have survived the haemorrhagic disease that leaves victims bleeding from most parts of their bodies including the eyes, ears, nose and mouth. Blood is also passed through patients' faeces and urine. A week ago, Marsabit County residents were cautioned after the disease broke out in neighbouring Wajir.
